
(Cleveland Ironstone Member -Yellow Boulders- and
Kettleness Shale Member - Blue Shale) - 2004
On the foreshore you will notice some large heavy ironstone blocks, these come from the top of the cliff at Kettleness and are part of the Cleveland Ironstone Member. The Formation is split into the Penny Nab Member and above this, the Kettleness Member.

(Grey Shale Member, exposed on foreshore) - 2004
Exposed on the foreshore is the Grey shale Member. Pockets of Belemnites and shells tend to be grouped together in small colonies.

(Kettleness Shale Member) - 2004
The Kettleness Shale Member can be seen in the cliffs, this is made up by the 'Jet Rock' and Bituminous shales, this is where the nodules of Ammonites , reptiles and dinosaur remains come from.

(Alum Shale member) - 2004
Further Southwards past the first headland, a reddish, pinky colour rock can be seen on the foreshore. This is part of the Alum Shale Member series, The Ovatus Band can also be seen though most of the nodules have been removed. Above this a series of hard shale's, Main alum shale's and at the top, the Cement Shale's.
